Description
Delicate and colorful macarons, perfect for special occasions or as a delightful treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Filling of your choice (buttercream, ganache, or jam)
Instructions
- Prep Your Baking Sheets: Line your baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside.
- Mix Almond Flour and Sugar: In a bowl, whisk together the almond flour and powdered sugar until well combined.
- Make the Meringue: In a clean mixing bowl, beat the egg whites. Once they start to foam, gradually add the granulated sugar. Continue mixing until you get stiff peaks.
- Add Color (Optional): If you want colorful macarons, add food coloring to the meringue and mix until evenly distributed.
- Fold in the Almond Mixture: Gently fold the almond mixture into the meringue, stopping when you see a smooth and shiny batter.
- Pipe the Macarons: Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Let Them Rest: Allow the macarons to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes, until they form a thin skin.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake the macarons for 15-20 minutes.
- Cool and Fill: Let them cool completely before removing them from the parchment and fill with your preferred filling.
Notes
Store macarons in an airtight container; they can last up to a week in the fridge and about a month in the freezer. Make sure egg whites are at room temperature for better volume.
