Description

Missed the burger buns at the store? No problem! This easy burger bowl recipe transforms all your favorite burger ingredients, juicy ground beef, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a tangy homemade sauce, into a healthier, low-carb meal you can enjoy with a fork. It’s everything you love about burgers, just in a bowl!

Ingredients

Scale

Main Bowl

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 10 oz romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 3 roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup pickles, diced (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded yellow cheddar cheese

Sweet Potatoes

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Burger Bowl Sauce

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Roast the Sweet Potatoes
    Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Toss diced sweet potatoes in olive oil and salt. Spread on a baking sheet and roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce (optional).
  3. Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Chill until ready to use.
  4. Assemble the Burger Bowls
In each bowl, layer chopped romaine lettuce, roasted sweet potatoes, ground beef, diced tomatoes, pickles, and cheddar cheese.
Drizzle with burger sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in separate containers to keep them fresh.

Swap beef for ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based meat.

Great for meal prep, keep ingredients separate until ready to eat.
