Description

A cozy, melt-in-your-mouth meal made with slow-cooked beef chuck roast, served on hoagie rolls with rich au jus.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • Sliced provolone cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the roast.
  3. Pour in the beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  6. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks and mix it with the juices.
  7. Serve the shredded beef in hoagie rolls. Top with provolone cheese if desired and provide a small bowl of au jus for dipping.

Notes

You can trim excess fat from the roast for a leaner option. For a spicy twist, stir in a pinch of red pepper flakes.
