Description
Bright and sweet candied orange slices, perfect for snacking or as a dessert topping.
Ingredients

- 4 fresh oranges (Valencia or Navel), sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Wash the oranges and slice them into 1/4-inch rounds. Remove any seeds.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Blanch the orange slices for 10 minutes, then drain.
- In another pan, mix 2 cups sugar, 2 cups water, and vanilla extract. Heat until the sugar dissolves, and the mixture simmers.
- Add the orange slices to the syrup. Simmer on low for 60 minutes, stirring gently every 15 minutes.
- Carefully remove the slices with tongs and place them on a parchment-lined sheet. Let them cool for 30–45 minutes.
- Store in an airtight container or refrigerate for up to 1 month.
Notes
These slices can be used as a topping for desserts, added to charcuterie boards, or enjoyed as a snack.
