  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) red gel food coloring (optional)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Increase heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Allow it to boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (about 300°F or 150°C).
  5. Remove from heat and quickly stir in cinnamon oil and red food coloring if using.
  6. Pour the mixture onto a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Let it cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
  8. Dust the candy with powdered sugar to avoid sticking.
