- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Cream cheese frosting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture until just combined. Stir in the red food coloring until evenly mixed.
- If desired, fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
- If desired, top with cream cheese frosting before serving.
Notes
For extra fudginess, do not overbake the brownies. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
