Description

Delightful red velvet cookies with a chocolate kiss in the center, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey chocolate kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a stand mixer until smooth.
  3. Add egg yolk, vanilla, and red food coloring; mix until combined.
  4. Mix in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt just until the flour disappears.
  5. Scoop out 18 equal-sized cookie dough balls, roll in red sanding sugar.
  6. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Immediately press a chocolate kiss in the center of each cookie after removing from the oven.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Chill dough in the fridge for up to 3 days before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, refrigerate for two weeks, or freeze for up to three months.
