  • ½ cup honey
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare Marinade: In a bowl, mix honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ground ginger until well combined.
  3. Season Chicken: Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  4. Marinate Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in a resealable bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours for more flavor).
  5. Sear Chicken: Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and sear for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Flip and Bake: Flip the chicken pieces over, and pour the remaining marinade into the skillet. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
  7. Cook Through: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  8. Baste with Sauce: Halfway through cooking, baste the chicken with the sauce to enhance flavor.
  9. Rest: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
