Description
A delightful twist on traditional brownies with a rich, chocolatey flavor and a creamy, tangy cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon red food coloring
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package cream cheese (8 oz), softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, melt the butter and stir in both sugars until well combined.
- Mix in cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla together until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled brownies.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Ensure your butter is fully melted and not hot when mixing in the sugars. For a more vibrant red color, use gel food coloring. Don’t overmix the batter once you add the flour to keep the brownies moist.
