Description

Delightful Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and filled with sweet, aromatic goodness, perfect for special occasions or cozy weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (About 2 1/4 tsp.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it sit for a few minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Add melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about an hour.
  5. Once risen, roll the dough out into a rectangle. Spread a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon over the dough, then roll up tightly.
  6. Cut into rolls and place them in a greased baking dish. Allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven, then bake the rolls until they are set and lightly browned. Allow them to cool before frosting.

Notes

Store leftover rolls in an airtight container for up to two days at room temperature or refrigerate for about a week. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
