Description

Delightful rolls combining the classic flavors of cinnamon and sugar with the rich, velvety taste of red velvet cake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red velvet cake mix (optional for color)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Warm the milk and butter in a saucepan until melted, then allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Stir the milk mixture and egg into the dry ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  6. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Roll up the dough tightly and slice it into rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  11. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth.
  12. Frost the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

For a softer texture, knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Avoid over-baking for soft, fluffy rolls.
