Delicious and customizable sugar cookies perfect for sharing on Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
- Decorating icing
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass. Sprinkle with decorative sugar, if desired.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
- Once cooled, decorate the cookies with icing and sprinkles.
Notes
Use softened butter for easy blending. Don’t skip cooling the cookies before decorating to prevent icing from melting.
